The family room sleeps four to six with an extra bed and bunk beds, its own attached bathroom with hot water, WiFi and TV, and costs ₹2,500 to ₹3,000 a night, AC or non-AC. Couples and grandparents travelling with you can take a single room at ₹1,500.

Why Honnavar works with children and older parents

Most of what you do here is gentle.

• The backwaters are calm, boarding is assisted, and life jackets come in every size including children's.
• The Kandla mangrove boardwalk is flat and shaded, with no steps.
• Kasarkod Eco Beach has lifeguards, a clean park and changing rooms.
• Nothing in the first day's plan is more than twenty minutes from the house, so an afternoon nap is always possible.
• Food is cooked at home, so tell us what the children eat and how spicy you like it.

Boats for groups

Rates are fixed by the district committee. The standard boat takes up to four guests for one hour at ₹1,500. Larger boats for eight to ten people run on the two-hour ride at ₹2,500 per boat, which keeps a family together and works out cheaper per head. For birthdays and celebrations we also run party boating with decorations.

Food, campfire and celebrations

The family cooks vegetarian and non-vegetarian coastal food and caters for groups, birthdays and small functions. A campfire in the yard can be arranged on request, and there is space under the roof if it rains. We can also organise cars with local drivers for day trips to Murudeshwar, Gokarna or Jog Falls.

House rules groups should know

This is a family home on a village lane, not a party venue. We ask for quiet after 10:30 PM out of respect for the neighbours, no smoking inside the rooms, a valid photo ID for every adult and outside visitors only with the host's permission. Groups looking for late-night music will be happier at a resort. Groups who want good food, a fire and a boat ride tend to come back.
